Giza pyramids were awarded the best world attractive monument by the" world tourism" organization during the celebration of 14th anniversary of the organization that was held in the islands of "Turks and Kasios" in Karibi region.
The general secretary of the supreme council of antiquities" Dr Zahi Hawass described that prize as" Oscar" but in the field of tourism especially as it is the most significant in the field.
"The awards were voted, this year, by 167000 persons including touristic specialists from 160 states is the organizations website on the internet" Hawass referred.
Hawass also added that the award is considered the suitable reply to the allegations claiming that pyramids are not included within the list of "the new seven world wonders". Organized in former July a group that has nothing to do with monuments or tourism and was voted by amateurs as well as ordinary public.
It is worth mentioning that "world tourism" organization was established in 1993 and is in charge of granting excellence awards in the different areas relating to travel industry. Including honoring touristic sites, air company's hotels and resorts, etc.
